Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz GLC X253 facelift is a compact crossover in production from 2019. It is available with a range of inline-4, inline-6, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.9 to 4.0 liters.
While the GLC-Class remains ugly after this facelift, the X253 remains an interesting choice with some of the last interesting ICE engines on the market today.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, will appreciate the approach, departure, and breakover angles that the chassis offers.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Mercedes-Benz GLC uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 38% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
Like other plug-in options, the GLE 300e leans predominantly on its hybrid system at town speeds, particularly so on a fully charged battery. It’s not as smooth or quite as responsive as rivals because its nine-speed gearbox is always fully involved in proceedings. Second-row seat space is generous with enough room for taller adults even under a panoramic glass sunroof.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Affordably priced
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Not as responsive as rivals
  • Not as comfortable as rivals

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 63% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Four-cylinder diesels offer all the performance, economy and refinement you could ask for. In terms of practicality, the GLC is pretty much a match for the X3 and Q5 in passenger and boot space. Prices range from just over £40,000 to around £90,000. All cars feature 4MATIC four-wheel drive and Mercedes' smooth shifting 9G-Tronic Plus nine speed auto gearbox.
Pros
  • Stupendously fast
  • Lots of practicality
Cons
  • Lacklustre handling
  • Lack of standard equipment

cnet[3]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has a new 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine. The new engine makes 14 ponies more than the 2019 GLC, but the 273 pound-feet of torque remains the same. The GLC300 starts at $43,495 (or $45,495 for all-wheel-drive)
Pros
  • Excellent infotainment tech
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good fuel economy
Cons
  • Lane-change assist isn't as effective as it used to be
  • More expensive than its competition
