Product Overview

Land Rover Range Rover Sport Mk2 (chassis code L494) is a mid-size crossover SUV in production from 2013 to 2022. It was available with a range of inline-4, inline-6, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 2.0 to 5.0 liters.
Compared to the original RR Sport, the Mk2 has a more upscale styling, as the Evoque took over as the entry-level option. Indeed, one could be forgiven for mistaking it for a real Range Rover.
Still, the car uses the chassis of the LR Discovery L462 and adds the drivetrain of the full-size L405 RR.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, will appreciate the extraordinary approach, departure, and breakover angles that the chassis offers. The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
For all of the gawdy exterior details, the SVR is actually a hugely comfortable and refined beast to drive. You sit high up in the firm, but largely supportive, sports seats, with a commanding view of the road. The cabin is plush and luxurious, and every bit as high end as you would expect from a car costing almost £100,000.
Pros
  • Superb acceleration
  • Superb infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Expensive for what it is

Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Range Rover Sport is one of the most popular premium SUVs currently available. It is as luxurious as you'd expect a big car wearing the Range Rover badge to be. Although not cheap to buy, it's an accomplished and impressive machine. There's little to fault and a lot to like: with owners telling us they're equally delighted, we're happy to recommend it.
Pros
  • Powerful V8 engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of standard equipment

carmagazine[3]

Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
JLR has been a resolute advocate of the touchscreen, and it's telling that Audi is following suit, with its new A8 abandoning the rotary controller. Sat-nav instructions appear between the dials at key directional moments, which is preferable to the binnacle's barren fullscreen map display. The 3.0-litre turbodiesel kicks out 516lb ft of torque nice and low down, with the responsive surge making the bonnet rise like a speedboat's prow gliding over a wave. The Sport's body control is almost as impressive as the serene ride comfort.
Pros
  • Powerful V6
  • Sleek interior
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment

cnet[4]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
Pricing for the 2020 Range Rover Sport starts at $68,650 for the base SE. The Sport HST tops out at $114,500 for the rip-snorting, 575-horsepower SVR. The cabin is as sumptuous as ever, but the infotainment tech could use some refinement.
Pros
  • Best-driving SUV in its class
  • Sleek looks
  • Excellent infotainment tech
Cons
  • Mild-hybrid engine is a wash
  • Lack of refinement
