Product Overview

BMW X2 F39 is a subcompact crossover in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.5 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to the F48 X1 on which it is based, the F39 X2 has an uglier exterior and is less practical. BMW hopes that the car's sloping roofline could trick some into thinking that it is "sportier". One difference is that BMW has blessed the vehicle with the B48 I4 petrol engine.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the BMW X2 is hardly the "offroader" that BMW would like you to think. BMW has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
There are three driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Eco-Pro – as well as fuel-saving functions that help provide it with a claimed 61.4mpg on the combined cycle, with a CO2 output of 121g/km. It also receives a multi-plate-clutch four-wheel-drive system capable of apportioning up to 100% of the engine’s reserves to either the front or rear wheels depending on prevailing grip and traction.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Powerful four-cylinder engine
  • Decent on-road performance
Cons
  • Lack of wind buffeting at higher speeds

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 50% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The BMW X2 is an interesting addition to BMW's SUV line-up. But it won't be the best choice for many buyers in the sector. This style-oriented crossover sits low compared with tall riding rivals. While it's fun to drive, it lacks the commanding driving position that many buyers like about this kind of car.
Pros
  • Cheap to drive
  • Cheaper than rivals
Cons
  • Lack of practicality
  • No rear-drive option

carwow[3]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carwow have found:
The BMW X2 combines the practicality of an SUV with the slinky styling you'd expect to find on a smaller hatchback or coupe. It shares plenty of mechanical bits with the BMW X1, but you'll easily tell them apart thanks to the X2's more rakish styling. The sensible dashboard layout, clear and concise instruments and soft-touch materials make the interior feel plush and intuitive in equal measure.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Dull and dingy back seats
  • Tiny rear windscreen

cnet[4]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The X2 M35i uses an 8.8-inch touchscreen running BMW's iDrive 6 software. The car's base price is $47,445 (including destination), an upcharge of $8,050 versus the X2 xDrive28i. Cargo capacity is reasonable at 21.6 cubic feet with the seats up and 50 with them down.
Pros
  • Gorgeous looks
  • Great infotainment system
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • No adaptive cruise control
