Product Overview

BMW 5 Series Touring G31 LCI is an executive station wagon in production from 2020. It is available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
Compared to the pre-facelift model, the facelifted G31 has roughly the same drivetrain setup. Only minor changes were introduced on the cosmetic front. At the same more, more "woke" variants became available.
BMW has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it. The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the BMW 5 Series Touring G31 LCI comes with double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear. Combined with RWD, this setup provides one of the best handling characteristics and tuning capabilities.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 62% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The BMW 5 Series has traditionally lost out to its Mercedes-Benz E-Class arch-rival. This facelifted 5-er is no different, because the Merc still boasts the bigger cargo bay. The version we test here is the 530d Touring, running the Bavarian firm’s straight-six diesel, with 282bhp and 479lb ft.
Pros
  • Punchy engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Jittery ride
  • No adaptive suspension

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Measuring 4,963mm nose to tail, few estates are longer than he BMW 5 Series Touring. Car is very similarly proportioned to all its main rivals, and is only slightly longer than a Mercedes E-Class Estate. There's loads of room inside for adults both in the front and the rear, too.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good standard equipment
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of boot space
  • Not as practical as rivals
