Product Overview

Volkswagen Polo Mk6 is a subcompact hatchback in production from 2017 to 2021. It was available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to the Mk5 Polo, the Mk6 has a more mature styling. Even smaller engines became common, though one can still equip the car with a 2.0L unit (GTI). Interestingly, only one diesel was offered.
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 52% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
VW is only offering the Polo Beats with the smallest engines in the range. Underneath the largely superficial Beats treatment, the Polo remains one of the most solidly built, grown-up and complete small cars on the market. For those who want refinement and a big-car feel from their supermini, there’s still little else that can touch it.
Pros
  • Excellent infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent fuel economy
Cons
  • Pricier than rivals
  • Lack of driver appeal

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The latest Volkswagen Polo GTI is an accomplished hot supermini. It feels like a forgiving hot hatch that'll be very easy to live with. The tech-filled interior sets a high benchmark in this class. It's not the last word in excitement, however; for outright thrills the latest Ford Fiesta ST has the edge.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No limited-slip differential
  • Engine feels unstressed
