Audi RS 3 Sportback (8Y)

Product Overview
Audi RS 3 Sportback (Type 8Y) is a high-performance compact hatchback in production from 2021. It is powered by a turbocharged inline-5 engine that displaced 2.5 liters that drives all four wheels via a 7-speed DCT.
One of the last chance to get VW's I5 engine, the RS 3 is the last car in this segment to offer more than 4 cylinders. Even though it is transverse-engined with AWD forced upon the driver, the engine alone is reason enough for some enthusiasts to favor it over its competition.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Audi RS 3 Sportback uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)Suspension is mostly bespoke. Unique pivot bearings for the front struts, stiffer lower wishbones and stronger subframes and stabilisers. Optional carbon ceramic discs measure 380mm and shave 10kg off the unsprung mass compared with the standard 375mm steel items. Most intriguing is the debut of Audi's clever Torque Splitter rear diff.
Pros
- Fantastic performance
- Terrific handling
- Torque Splitter rear diff
Cons

carmagazine[2]
Reviewer score 58% (normalized by Neofiliac)In Torque Rear mode, the Splitter can direct as much as 100% of the rear axle’s torque to the outside wheel to help get a drift going. It then juggles it side to side to keep the slide going while you do the same with the steering and throttle pedal. Similar hardware to the system in the VW Golf R – and the Ford Focus RS, for that matter.
Pros
- Powerful Torque Splitter
- Lots of fun to drive
Cons
- Rear suspension feels a little flimsy
- Noisy exhaust
