Product Overview

Renault Zoe facelift is an entry-level battery-electric subcompact hatchback in production from 2019. It is powered by electric motors from 108hp to 135hp aided by batteries from 41kWh to 52kWh.
Rather lethargic and ugly, the Zoe is related to another horrible EV from the same company, the Nissan Leaf. The car is only good at producing toxic waste, and one is better served taking the bus.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
This new Zoe feels much more at ease on a greater proportion of Britain’s roads than the old model. The 132bhp delivered to the front wheels is a healthy increase over the old 106bhp R110 motor. Renault is sweetening the deal with a 7kW wallbox included with the price of the car, for anyone making the switch to electric for the first time. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also welcome additions.
Pros
  • More comfortable to drive
  • Better fuel economy
Cons
  • More expensive than the old model

Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
From behind the wheel, the Renault Zoe feels much like a traditional combustion-engined supermini – albeit a much quieter one. It would especially appeal to families with two or three cars, as the Zoe suits shorter commutes and daily errands perfectly. It's more practical than a Volkswagen e-up! and cheaper to buy or lease than a BMW i3. But its poor zero-star rating from industry safety body Euro NCAP makes it hard to recommend.
Pros
  • Cheap to buy and lease
  • Excellent range
Cons
  • Poor zero-star rating from industry safety body

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The R135 GT-Line has a slightly harsh undertone that thumps and bumps over road imperfections, yet still leans in a stereotypically Gallic way around the bends. Even on the most expensive model, the seats are pretty basic. The generously squashy pads have no height adjustment and just the bare minimum of distance and backrest tweakage. The dashboard's LCD displays media or sat-nav info between a speedometer and efficiency readout, behind a new steering wheel with actual buttons for the cruise control. The interior has been given a visual and environmentally friendly uplift with a swathe of material made from recycled seat belts and bottles, plus there’s a total of 22.5kg of recycled polymer parts in and around the cabin.
Pros
  • Bigger and more fun to drive
  • Lots of new tech
Cons
  • Lacklustre ride quality
  • Not as fun as in-house rivals
