Product Overview

Skoda Scala is a compact hatchback in production from 2019. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 1.6 liters.
A new model that sits between the Fabia and the Octavia, the Scala has similar designs found in the Fabia and is neither good-looking nor well-built. It can be rather strange why one would purchase this vehicle over the competition.
Unsurprisingly, the car has a basic drivetrain and suspension setup.

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 42% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The 1.5-litre engine lends plenty of punch too, pulling with suitable conviction from as low as 2000rpm. The steering is naturally weighted and, at 2.6 turns lock to lock, reasonably responsive too. Unsurprisingly, there’s a distinct sense of VW Group-ness about the manner in which it rides, too - so long as you stay on smoothly surfaced roads.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Not as practical as a Golf
  • No independent rear suspension

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The arrival of the new Skoda Octavia last year put the Czech brands other family hatchback offering, the Scala, in the shade. It's a more budget-focused alternative, but to give customers more choice Skoda has added its 148bhp 1.5-litre TSI engine and seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox to the line-up. Price start from £21,965 for this powertrain, but our new fleet-focused SE Technology model costs from £22,365.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment
Cons
  • Rear legroom isn’t great
  • Slightly jerky gearbox

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
, and while we haven't tried one without, the Scala's noise, vibration and harshness levels impressed when sat on the standard suspension. We've had a sneak peek at the new interior, despite our cabin being covered in the prototypes we drove. It borrows heavily from the Vision RS Concept that we recently drove. The Scala's near the top of the Skoda class here. Spec the Amundsen infotainment system with a permanent 4G internet connection built-in.
Pros
  • Fantastic looks
  • Excellent ride quality
  • Excellent infotainment
Cons
  • No multilink rear axle
  • Somewhat expensive
