Product Overview

Renault Koleos 2 (chassis code HC) is a mid-size crossover in production from 2016 to 2019, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.6 to 2.5 liters.
Compared to the Mk1 Koleos, the Mk2 has a much more coherent exterior design. It still uses a similar range of engines as well as a CVT, though it looks and feels much more upscale.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the Renault Koleos II is hardly the "offroader" that Renault would like you to think.

External Reviews

autoexpress[1]

Reviewer score 58% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Koleos is a 2.0-litre diesel model in Dynamique S Nav trim. It features 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, climate control, quick-folding rear seats and Renault's latest R-Link 2 infotainment system. The seven-inch touchscreen display looks good in the dashboard, but it's not as easy to use as I'd like.
Pros
  • Cheap to run
  • Good fuel economy
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Too big and heavy
  • No automatic gearbox

carmagazine[2]

Reviewer score 47% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Koleos will be available with a choice of three powertrains featuring two diesel engines; a 128bhp 1.6 litre unit married to a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. A more powerful, 175bhp 2.0-litre unit with all- wheel drive and a choice. of six-speed manuals or Renault's seven-speed X-Tronic CVT automatic transmissions. The car is equipped with the fundamentally soft undercarriage appropriate to a large family cruiser. Renault may well be the first manufacturer to actually deliver on the promise of a Continuously Variable Transmission.
Pros
  • Comfortable ride
  • Comfortable undercarriage
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment system
  • Not the most practical
