Product Overview

Toyota Yaris 3 (chassis code XP130) is an entry-level subcompact hatchback in production from 2011 to 2018. It was available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 1.8 liters.
Compared to the Mk2 Yaris, the Yaris 3 has a slightly more modern exterior design. Toyota widely used CVT on the new Yaris and offered a popular hybrid model in Europe.
Toyota has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Another plus is the small 9.4m (30.8ft) turning circle.

The Yaris Design is available with an Eclipse Black metallic ‘wrap-around roof' finish. All Design customers get a roof spoiler and 16-inch black alloys with machine-polished faces as standard. Standard equipment is generous, with ‘Touch 2' touchscreen, reversing camera, DAB radio, Bluetooth and cruise control amongst what's included.

Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Decent rear legroom
Cons
  • Plasticky interior
  • Noisy gearshift

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The Yaris behaves itself respectably in the urban environment, and sleeping policemen are despatched with reasonable aplomb. But the body's propensity to fidget does rise at higher speeds, and, as a motorway cruiser, the Toyota, though not uncomfortably so, never feels as well-planted as a Polo or Fiesta. The driving position is somewhat hampered by rather limited reach adjustment to the steering. But otherwise the seats are comfortable enough.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lacklustre performance
  • No Android Auto

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The new 2012 Toyota Yaris Hybrid is the first ever B-segment car to offer full hybrid technology. Toyota reckons 20% of all Yaris sales will go to the Hybrid and it's spending £3m on advertising in the UK alone to make sure they do. Performance is fairly modest, with 0-62mph taking 11.8 seconds while top speed is 103mph. Seats are comfortable and there's ample leg and headroom in the back.

Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Powerful electric motor
Cons
  • Not the most fun to drive
  • Cheap to run
