Product Overview

Skoda Fabia 3 (chassis code NJ) is an affordable subcompact hatchback in production from 2014 to 2021. It was available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 1.4 liters.
Compared to the Mk2 Fabia, the NJ Fabia largely retains the exterior of its predecessor, which shows that little budget was "wasted" on the vehicle's design. Based on VAG's A06 platform, it is essentially a cheapened Mk5 VW Polo and is equal to the Mk4 SEAT Ibiza.
The only two notable positives of this vehicle are its low fuel consumption and small 10.4m (34.1ft) turning circle.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
It sits on a comparatively older platform than the Polo and Ibiza. A comfort-biased set-up is present here, and that's evident in the way in which the Fabia goes about dealing with choppier sections of road. Its 330-litre boot is still a useful size, but the Polo outdoes it by 21 litres, while the Ibiza offers an additional 25.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent on-road manners
Cons
  • Pricier than rivals
  • Lack of standard equipment

The facelifted Fabia hatch ticked all the right boxes so far as comfort and refinement were concerned when we first drove it in the Czech Republic. Now, we’ve experienced the updated 2018 Fabia on UK roads, and this time around it’s the vastly more practical Fabia estate. As with the hatch, the Fabia is available with a range of 1.0-litre three-cylinder MPI and TSI power plants, with outputs ranging from 74bhp to 109bhp. Suspension is by way of MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Comfortable ride
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of practicality

The Skoda easily has the measure of the MG3 with its seats up, but if you fold them down, the tables are turned. Neither car's back seats fold down fully flat and most owners are likely to use these superminis in five-seat form, when the Fabia is more practical. The MG hasn't done enough to elevate its supermini to the summit of this ultra-competitive class.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Poor fuel economy
  • High CO2 emissions

The Skoda Fabia is one of the best superminis for sale in the UK today. It offers lots of practicality, decent space inside and a range of efficient engines. Prices start from almost £13,000, with the estate incurring a premium of around £1,000 over the hatchback.

Cons
  • No vRS option

The Skoda Fabia has been given a quick nip and tuck for 2018. The new car's front grille is wider, the lights are slimmer, and there's some new reflectors in the rear bumper. Top spec Monte Carlo models are now available with optional 18-inch alloy wheels, LED brake lights and full LED headlights.

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Citroen's 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo unit boasts the strongest output here, serving up 108bhp and a healthy 205Nm of torque from 1,500rpm; 45Nm more than the Fabia. The steering is light, but has a nice, natural weight, so it's easy to drive in tight city streets, but the C3's size makes it feel like the largest car on test. The Fiesta's appealing blend of abilities means it rises to the top yet again.

Cons

The revised Fabia Estate is a (slightly) better car than the old one, with some pleasing spec upgrades. And it's still a decent drive, if an anodyne one. But does it make a better case for small estates overall? We're not sure – especially when the deals on equally capable regular family cars make them look every bit as affordable.

Skoda Fabia 1.0 TSI SE L is a supermini from the Volkswagen Group. It was on the receiving end of a very mild facelift in 2018. Despite the older mechanicals, this isn't a car on its way out. A new Fabia won't appear until 2021 at the earliest. At £17,160 it's still a big investment for many.

Pros
  • Stylish looks

All three generations of the Skoda Fabia have come as either a five-door hatchback or a versatile small estate. Practicality is a Fabia strong point, with the biggest boot in its class, at 330 litres, which expands to 1,150 litres with the back seats folded. All Fabias built from 2018 came with a 6.5-inch touchscreen system with Bluetooth and DAB radio.

The Skoda Fabia Estate has a far more dynamic shape than before. Piano black trim inserts help give the neatly designed dashboard a lift. The cabin feels solidly constructed and should be more than up to the rough and tumble of family life. Euro NCAP has awarded the hatchback a full five-star crash safety rating.

Skoda Fabia now has to compete against VW Polo, Seat Ibiza and Audi A1. All versions are front-wheel drive and have 999cc three-cylinder petrol engines. There are five-and six-speed manuals and a seven-speed paddleshift auto. The rear seats fold flat to increase luggage capacity from 530 to 1395 litres.

The Skoda Fabia Estate is even better - its 530 litres adding a whole new dimension. New on the Fabia with the 2018 facelift are twin USB charging points for rear-seat passengers, a rechargeable torch in the estate's boot. Diesel has been dropped for 2018, as a miserly 6% of Brits were ordering Fabia derv models.

Pros
  • Decent fuel economy
  • Decent infotainment tech
Cons
  • Not the most exciting design
  • No diesel option

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo aims to inject a little more interest into Skoda's current compact hatchback line–up. It features a host of sporty styling touches but is offered with a range of engines that tops out with the frugal 109bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol. The ride is firm, but not uncomfortable, and the chassis tackles corners competently.

Pros
  • Sporty styling
  • Fun to drive
Cons
  • Not fast enough
  • Noisy understeer

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
With its crisply creased lines and spot-on proportions the Fabia is, to our eyes, a conservatively handsome estate. The dashboard is cleanly and clearly laid out, the plastics you touch are soft and those you don't aren't, and every control is exactly where you want it. All models come with six airbags, a lexicon of safety acronyms, stop-start, DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity.

Pros
  • Powerful turbocharged engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent cabin space
Cons
  • Lacklustre fuel economy

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The new Fabia's shed a fair bit of weight and manages to squeeze a roomier interior and relatively big boot inside a silhouette that's 8mm shorter than before. Skoda's joined the customisable colour scheme party, with mix-and-matchable hues for the roof, mirrors and wheels. DAB, Bluetooth and USB connectivity are standard across the range. Available too is the latest tech to link your smartphone up to the dash display, although that's not always plain sailing.

Pros
  • Decent ride quality
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lacklustre performance
  • Lack of USB ports

The new 2015 Skoda Fabia uses the MQB technology first seen in the VW Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia. It's loaded with the same standard or optional safety and convenience kit found in the Octavia – including an auto-brake function for potential impacts. Three- and four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, with power ranging from 59bhp to 108bhp, are available. In the UK less than 10% will opt for the diesel though.

Pros
  • Punchy turbocharged engine
  • Comfortable ride
  • Decent infotainment
Cons
  • No on-board navigation
  • No Apple CarPlay
