Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz A-Class W169 is an entry-level subcompact hatchback in production from 2004 to 2012. It was available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.5 to 2.0 liters.
With the original A-Class, alongside deteriorating quality control problems, Mercedes successfully demolished its premium image. The Gen2 W169 sought to pound on the rubbles, and it was a good effort.
The vehicle remained rather ugly, though largely inheriting the styling of its predecessor, a decision that shows how much (or little) budget Mercedes put into the project. The only notable difference is that the W169 added insult to injury with a CVT transmission (marketed as Autotronic).
In 2008, Mercedes gave the W169 a facelift. However, no effort whatsoever was made to improve the drivetrain or the chassis and suspensions. Instead, Mercedes slapped on a new bumper and called it a day.
Fortunately, the cars are so bad that most have already been scrapped.
