Product Overview

BMW X3 G01 is a compact crossover in production from 2017 to 2020, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
Compared to the Mk2 model, the G01 largely retained the latter's design, though the exterior has been tidied up a bit for a smoother look. Fortunately, BMW made some highly-appreciated improvements, including the full adoption of its new B-series engines.
The B58 and B48 petrol and B57 and B47 diesel engines have a revised, closed-deck design that makes them much more reliable than the N-series that preceded them.
Meanwhile, BMW continued to use the proven ZF 8HP automatic transmission.
BMW has also made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the BMW X3 G01 comes with double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear.

Reviewers from autocar have found:
herson struts at the front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear, along with adaptive dampers and M Performance-specific variable ratio steering. Beefier M Sport brakes are also included to improve stopping power. The dashtop is crowned by BMW’s excellent 10.3in touchscreen infotainment system.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Excellent infotainment system
  • Comfortable, well-made cabin
Cons
  • M Sport suspension isn’t particularly exciting

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The third-generation X3 is known as the G01 by BMW, to separate it from its predecessor, which was the F25. The entry-level SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, adaptive LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats and a powered tailgate. Move up a level to the xLine and you'll have 19in wheels, sports front seats, brushed aluminium exterior trim and subtle body styling. The M Sport has a more prominent bodykit, bigger brakes, sport suspension and a 10.25in dash display. As with all BMWs, the X3 comes with Condition-Based Servicing.
Pros
  • Roomy and practical interior
  • Lots of powertrains
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Run-flat issues
  • High running costs

cnet[3]

Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The M40i isn't as hard-core and track-focused as the Ms, but it's plenty capable of providing backroad thrills. Outside of more supportive sport seats, a thick-rimmed M steering wheel and some M logos here and there, it's a typical BMW cabin. BMW's iDrive system is responsive and intuitive, but still doesn't support Android Auto.
Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Excellent ride quality
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • No Android Auto
  • No wireless charging pad
