Product Overview

Subaru Crosstrek 2 (chassis code GT) is a subcompact crossover in production from 2017 to 2020, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of flat-4 engines that displaced 1.6 to 2.0 liters.
Related to the GJ/GP Impreza, the Crosstrek 2 is essentially the crossover version with larger wheels and some black plastic magic. Unfortunately, Subaru has stuck with CVT transmissions for this vehicle.
The plug-in hybrid drivetrain can help the owner save on fuel and car tax, though those who plan on keeping the car after warranty should be mindful of the complexity.

Reviewer score 47% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid doesn't really perform the crossover or plug-in hybrid roles very well. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV does have all-wheel drive, as well as more electric-only range than the Subaru (22 miles), but with lower efficiency (74 MPGe on electricity, 25 mpg on gasoline) The Kia Niro is a hatchback masquerading as a crossover. The Toyota Prius Prime is the most efficient car.
Pros
  • Cheaper than standard Crosstrek Hybrid
  • Good towing capacity
Cons
  • Lacks all-wheel drive
  • Not as fun to drive as rivals
