Product Overview

BMW 5 Series Touring G31 is an executive station wagon in production from 2017 to 2020, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, inline-6, and V8 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
Compared to the F11 Touring, the G31 introduced a new range of I4 and I6 engines, including the B48 and B58 petrol units and the B57 diesel. They joined the B47 introduced earlier as a much more reliable and solidly-built range of powertrains. The same ZF 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission was used, with manual transmission minimally available.
The only left-over engine was the N63, now in TU2 guise with some of the worst issues ironed out. It is still the one to avoid.
BMW has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.27 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the 5 Series Touring G31 comes with double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear. Combined with RWD, this setup provides one of the best handling characteristics and tuning capabilities.
