Product Overview

Opel Insignia A Sports Tourer (chassis code G09) is a large station wagon in production from 2009 to 2013, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 1.4 to 2.8 liters.
Compared to the cheaper Astra J Sports Tourer of the same period, the G09 Insignia Sports Tourer is much more elegant and handsome. From some angles, one may say that it compares to the B8 Audi A4 Avant favorably in the styling department. Unfortunately, the Insignia A uses a transverse engine layout with a lower-grade suspension setup, making it decidedly a lower-tier vehicle.
Still, Opel managed to provide a V6 option that doesn't disappoint as much, and AWD is broadly available (though who would need that in an underpowered FWD vehicle is questionable).
Opel has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.27 coefficient of drag to show for it. The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.
The Opel Insignia was also marketed as Vauxhall Insignia and Buick Regal, among other names.
