Audi S4 Avant B5 (Typ 8D) is a compact executive station wagon in production from 1997 to 2001. It was available with a single V6 engine that displaced 2.7 liters.

Compared to the B5 RS 4 Avant, the S4 Avant is much closer in design terms to the standard A4 Avant. Still, it received a turbocharged 5-valve V6 engine similar to that found in the RS 4 Avant, though the output is markedly lower.

Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Audi S4 Avant (8D,B5) comes with double-wishbone at the rear and multi-link at the front. This is a bit unusual for AWD, though it is more compact than full multi-link setups and has good handling characteristics.
