Product Overview

Audi A6 Avant C5 (Typ 4B) is an executive station wagon in production from 1997 to 2001, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.8 to 4.2 liters.
Compared to the Gen1 (C4) A6 Avant, the C5 model had a much more rounded exterior. In other words, whereas the C4 shared a lot of design elements with the famous D2 A8, the C5 A6 was more of a stepping stone towards the D3 A8. In many respects, this styling choice did not age too well, though Audi did worse for the C6.
The most interesting engine option was undoubted the 4.2L naturally-aspirated V8, being one of the few V8-powered station wagons to have ever come out of Germany. Unfortunately, this engine was paired to the infamously unreliable ZF 5HP transmission.
Audi has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it.
