Product Overview

Audi A4 Avant B5 (Typ 8D) facelift is a compact executive station wagon in production from 1999 to 2001. It was available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 1.6 to 2.8 liters.
Towards the end of the port-injected era, the B5 A4 Avant proved to be relatively simple and reliable. The diesel engines were fine, too. The one issue that it had was the ZF 5HP19 automatic transmission, which has since been known to have a weak Clutch A drum that would fail prematurely.
As it was the case with other Audis and Volkswagens of the era, only quattro AWD models used double-wishbone rear suspensions. The FWD models had to do with semi-independent suspensions.
