Product Overview

Audi A6 Avant C5 (Typ 4B) facelift is a large station wagon in production from 2001 to 2004. It was available with a range of inline-4, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.8 to 4.2 liters.
Owners will probably enjoy the powerful, naturally-aspirated 4.2L V8 the most, which is smoother than smaller engines and comes with an exhaust note that is sure to please. While it uses a timing belt, the engine is overall more robust than later chain-driven units and it is rather simple to replace the belt.
Two issues that potential used car buyers should keep in mind include: 1. The C5 A6 Avant used a semi-independent rear suspension setup for FWD models, which is durable but doesn't handle well. 2. With the larger engines, notably the V8, many services require putting the vehicle into "service position".
