Product Overview

Citroen C5 I (chassis code DC) is an affordable mid-size sedan in production from 2000 to 2004, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 1.7 to 2.9 liters.
Coming in around the peak of France's love affair with diesel, the Gen1 C5 came with a large portfolio of I4 diesel engines for prospective buyers. These were in PSA's EW10 and EW12 common rail diesel families. They aren't the most sought after and wear out relatively easily; still, as emissions were not as strict when they were produced, they don't have the troublesome emission control systems found in modern diesels.
The petrol engines are equally uninspiring, just like the car's overall styling.
Unfortunately, Citroen, the pioneer of independent suspensions, still used semi-independent suspension on the C5.
