Product Overview

Hyundai IONIQ is a compact sedan engineered specifically for hybrid or battery electric in production from 2016 to 2019, whereupon it received a facelift. Interestingly, with the same chassis Hyundai sells the IONIQ in hybrid, plus-in hybrid, and battery electric forms.
Undoubtedly, any of these drivetrains can help the owner save on fuel and car tax, though those who plan on keeping the car after warranty should be mindful of the complexity and battery wear issues.
Engineers at Hyundai clearly made a great effort in aerodynamics, with a class-leading 0.24 coefficient of drag to show for it.
It should be noted that the IONIQ was rated the most fuel efficient hybrid for many years.
On the downside, the front suspensions are MacPherson struts, while the rears on the BEV aren't even fully independent.
