Product Overview

Audi S8 D3 (Typ 4E) is a full-size luxury sports sedan in production from 2006 to 2010. It was powered by a naturally-aspirated V10 engine that displaced 5.2 liters paired to a 6-speed ZF 6HP26A automatic transmission.
Indeed, the D3 S3 uses the same powertrain found in the C6 S6. This direct-injection engine (FSI) did not suffer from the excessive cam and rod bearing wear of the BMW S85 V10 from the same era; however, it has another range of issues, most of which related to direct injection. It doesn't help that the engine bay has no room for any work done due to the position of the transaxle in front of the front drive shafts.
Unfortunately, while the D2 S8 had great styling, the D3 S8 came with the styling of the facelift D3 A8. It is rather a let-down from the great D2. Further, manual transmission is no longer available.
Audi has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the D3 S8 comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners. This provides the best cornering performance and tunability, at the expense of cost and a little bit of durability.
