Product Overview

Audi S6 C6 (Typ 4F) is an executive sports sedan in production from 2006 to 2010. It was available with a single 90-degree V10 engine that displaced 5.2 liters.
This naturally-aspirated V10 was made at roughly the same time of the E60 M5 with the S85 V10 engine. While the BMW was port-injected, the Audi is direct-injected (FSI). Overtime, this has proven to be an Achille's heel, though the Audi seems to be spared of excessive camshaft and rod bearing wears. The same 5.2 FSI engine could be found in the D3 S8, too. Unfortunately, due to Audi's symmetric AWD system, the engine has to be placed in front of the transaxle, leaving no space for any work in the engine bay.
The only transmission available was a ZF 6HP26A 6-speed automatic. It was a decent unit, but with the high-sprung V10 and insufficient cooling (plus Audi's no-service advice) it tends to fail prematurely.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the C6 S6 comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners, which helps control the nose-heavy nature of the vehicle.
In theory, Audi "facelifted" the C6 S6 in 2008. However, there was no mechanical change and the update was mostly on the infotainment system.
