Audi S4 B6 (Typ 8E) is a compact executive sports sedan in production from 2003 to 2004. It was available with a single 4.2L naturally-aspirated V8 engine. Power is sent to all four wheels in Audi's classic quattro symmetric mechanical AWD via either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed ZF 6HP19A automatic transmission.
This 4.2 V8 is one of the most reliable V8s to have ever come out of VAG / Audi. Its 5-valve per cylinder valvetrain allows it to breathe much better than a conventional NA V8, thus allowing for good amount of torque and power output without impinging on reliability.
However, with a 13.3L/100km (17.7mpg) fuel "dis-economy", owners have to be prepared to pay for their "smiles-per-mile".
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the B6 S4 comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners. This provides the best cornering performance and tunability, at the expense of cost and a little bit of durability.
