Product Overview

Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is a short telephoto prime lens for Leica L-mount and Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Sigma in 2021, it has 11 elements in 10 groups.
For incremental weathers, Sigma is kind enough to include weather sealing. On the lens barrel, one can find a physical aperture ring. Those who wish to focus manually can have the best of both worlds (with the usual caveats).
A telephoto prime lens, the Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN is well suited for portrait photography.

    cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
Sigma’s 90mm f2.8 DG DN is a very appealing lens for Sony and L-mount mirrorless owners who want a short telephoto lens for portraits or details without the heft or cost of faster models. Details are very sharp across the frame even at the maximum aperture, and videographers will appreciate the minimal breathing. Sony 1.8 is key rival that gives you more blur for the same money, but it's softer in the corners.
    Pros
    • Sharpness at f2.8 and f1.8
    • Lightweight and compact
    • Compact design
    Cons
    • Focus breathing could be better
    • Lack of focus breathing

The Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens is available in Sony E-mount, compatible with both full-frame and APS-C sensor format models. This lens is an outstanding performer, is strongly constructed, incorporates a great design, and is very affordable. The "DN" in the name indicates that this lens was designed for short flange mirrorless cameras.
    Pros
    • Sharpness edge at f/2.8
    • Solid build quality
    • Good optics
    Cons
    • No case in the box

    pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Short telephoto lenses are, almost as if by rule, very sharp optics. This 90mm is no exception, netting resolution considered excellent for the camera. Close-up focus is available to 19.7 inches, good enough for a decent 1:5 macro rating at the nearest focus point.
    Pros
    • Sharp, sharp image quality
    • Excellent dust and splash protection
    • In-camera focus aids
    Cons
    • Focus breathing isn't as strong as other E-mount and L-mount lenses

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from sonyalpha have found:

    Pros
    • Very good wide open and optimum reach at f5.6 on the entire field
    • Very good sharpness for portraits but you will benefits to close at F4 for optimum results
    Cons
    • No click only aperture ring
