Product Overview

Panasonic Lumix G 42.5mm F1.7 ASPH Power OIS is a short telephoto prime lens for Micro Four Thirds-mount. It covers the MFT image circle. Introduced by Panasonic in 2015, it has 10 elements in 8 groups.
Unfortunately, Panasonic has opted to omit weather sealing for this lens, so owners should pay extra attention when shooting in incremental weathers.
A telephoto prime lens, the Panasonic Lumix G 42.5mm F1.7 ASPH Power OIS is well suited for portrait photography. Built-in image stabilization makes the lens easier to use handheld, and can be quite valuable for landscape works.

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Panasonic Lumix G 42.5mm f1.7 is a short telephoto lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. This means it’ll work on Panasonic or Olympus mirrorless bodies, on which it will deliver an 85mm equivalent field of view. It also has a closest focusing distance of 31cm, allowing fairly respectable macro work, and optical stabilization to iron-out the wobbles.
Pros
  • Bright f1.7 focal length
  • Compact design
  • Optical stabilisation
Cons
  • Very little in the barrel
