Product Overview

Fujifilm XF 16mm F1.4 R WR is a large-aperture wide-angle prime lens for Fujifilm X-mount. It covers the APS-C image circle. Introduced by Fujifilm in 2015, it has 13 elements in 11 groups.
For incremental weathers, Fujifilm is kind enough to include weather sealing. On the lens barrel, one can find a physical aperture ring. Those who wish to focus manually can have the best of both worlds (with the usual caveats).
The bright maximum aperture for a wide-angle lens is appreciated for night photography, though some may prefer the perspective of an ultra wide-angle lens for this. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The XF 16mm f1.4 is a high quality wide-angle prime lens for Fujifilm X-series bodies. It features nine aperture blades (versus seven on the XF 14mm and XF 10-24mm) which ensure the rendering remains well-behaved as you close the aperture down. The Lens Modulation Optimiser profiling also ensures the image doesn’t become too soft at f11 or f16. The 24mm equivalent field of view is an eternal favourite with landscape and architectural photographers.
Pros
  • 24mm equivalent field of view
  • Sharpness at f1.4
  • Large maximum aperture
Cons
  • No fluorine coating
  • No optical stabilisation
