Product Overview

Fujifilm XF 23mm F2 R WR is a wide-angle prime lens for Fujifilm X-mount. It covers the APS-C image circle. Introduced by Fujifilm in 2016, it has 10 elements in 6 groups.
For incremental weathers, Fujifilm is kind enough to include weather sealing. On the lens barrel, one can find a physical aperture ring. Those who wish to focus manually can have the best of both worlds (with the usual caveats).
As a wide-angle prime lens that happens to have relatively small maximum aperture, it is best suited for landscape photography, though some may wish for a brighter alternative for versatility. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The newer XF 23mm f2 delivers great-looking spikes when the light is bright and fairly close. But for more distant dimmer lights, the older XF23mm f1.4 takes a decisive lead. And finally for my tests on this page a quick look at geometry and vignetting. Both lenses are pretty well-behaved in both regards, at least for the out-of-camera JPEGs.
Pros
  • Sharpness at very close range and or at the largest apertures
  • Great-looking spikes when the light is bright and fairly close
  • Dust and splash protection
Cons
  • Not as sharp as the older XF 23mm f1.4
