Sony FE 12-24mm F4 G
Full-Frame LensProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sony FE 12-24mm F4 G is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Sony in 2017, it has 17 elements in 13 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Sony FE 12-24mm F4 G is externally-zooming. For incremental weathers, Sony is kind enough to include weather sealing.
As an ultra wide-angle lens, this zoom can offer a unique perspective that many will appreciate. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.
Some photographers may be disappointed by the fact that the lens does not accept front screw-on filters.

- Compatible with all Sony E-mount cameras
Cons
- High price

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)Sharpness at F4 is very good and increase until F5.6, F8 (quite the same), it decrease at F11 and at F16 diffraction effects can been seen. Sharpness is a little bit better at 12, 14mm, 16,18mm being the less good ones, 21 & 24 in the average Compared to the Zeiss 16-35 F4, the 12-24 is alittle bit behind in term of sharpness whatever the focal length and the aperture. In practice you will only see that with a High Megapixel camera like the A7RII and only if you do 100% crop or very large print e.g. 100x150cm.
Pros
- Very consistent center to border, no chromatic aberration
- Very good flare resistance
- Fast and reliable AF
Cons
- No lens profile correction
- Vignetting : not found (I left Lightroom CA correction default=on)
