Product Overview

Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS is a super telephoto zoom lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the APS-C image circle. Introduced by Sony in 2019, it has 19 elements in 13 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS is externally-zooming. Fortunately, Sony has provided a zoom lock that at least stops zoom creep. For incremental weathers, Sony is kind enough to include weather sealing.
As a super telephoto zoom lens, the Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS can be quite useful for wild-life and landscape photography. Built-in image stabilization is almost a must-have at this focal range, and this lens does not disappoint on this front.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Sony E 70-350mm f4.5-6.3 G OSS is a telephoto zoom for its E-mount mirrorless cameras with APSC sensors, like the A6000 series. Announced in August 2019 alongside the E 16-55mm, it's Sony’s second telephoto Zoom designed specifically for its APSC bodies. The lens barrel is sealed against dust and moisture, measures 142mm by 77mm with a 67mm filter thread, and weighs 625g. It costs roughly three times more than the 55-210mm but half the price of the full-frame FE 200-600mm.
Pros
  • Sharpness and sharpness
  • Autofocus and steadyshot stabilisation
  • Long maximum apertures
Cons
  • Larger barrel than FE 70-300mm

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
At 70mm f/4.5, it delivers outstanding resolution for a 24MP sensor, 3,200 lines. It maintains that level of quaility as you narrow the aperture, but does fall off a bit at f/16. Focus acquisition is quick, and the a6600's tracking does a fine job keeping track of moving subjects.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality for a 24MP sensor
  • Good zoom range
  • Fast autofocus
Cons
  • Narrow maximum aperture

sonyalpha[3]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from sonyalpha have found:
The new Sony 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS is the professional photo zoom we needed for Sony APSC cameras. It is the counterpart of the excellent Sony 100-400 mm on full frame but for 2.5 time less. Sharpness is very good to excellent and background blur is very nice at 135mm and above. Optical stabilisation is a must for such telephoto lens.
Pros
  • Sharpness is very good to excellent and background blur is very nice at 135mm and above
  • Optical stabilisation is a must for such telephoto lens and will allow to use it without issue on older Sony APSC cameras like the A6000
Cons
  • Not without compromise with a very important distortion for which automatic corrections should alsways be on, a small aperture at 350mm making ISO climbing fast, a medium resistance to flare and a minimum focusing distance a little bit too big
  • Very not...
