Product Overview

LG SM98 is a high-end 4K IPS TV in LG's 2019 NanoCell lineup available in select markets. It is powered by a 10-bit IPS panel and available in 55" and 65" size classes.
Some highlights of the LG SM98 include a high screen-to-body ratio up to 94.90% and high brightness. Additionally, it supports full-array LED local-dimming. With mini-LEDs, full-array LED dimming helps the panel achieve higher contrast and dynamic range. It supports HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). Reviewers from techradar have found:
The NanoCell 9 Series SM9500 is one of the best-sounding TVs we've ever heard thanks to AI Sound, One Touch Sound Tuning and its built-in 40w speakers. It has a wonderful picture quality that's leaps and bounds more accurate than the first Super UHD TV we saw at CES 2016. Its audio quality rivals low-end soundbars, but you'll still want a separate sound system for Dolby Atmos.
    Pros
    • Best-in-class upscaling
    • Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos
    • AI Sound and Magic Remote
    Cons
    • No Dolby Vision
