Product Overview

Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 is a premium 16-inch ultra-portable mobile workstation powered by 11th-gen Intel Xeon / Core Tiger Lake processors and ISV-certified NVIDIA graphics up to RTX A5000 with 16GB of graphics memory.
Unlike the previous-gen ThinkPad P1, the Gen 4 model adopts the 16:10 aspect ratio. This change allows Lenovo to offer a larger viewing area in a chassis that is more compact. The P1 Gen 4 is also thinner than ever before.
Inside the new P1, the configurable components resemble that full-size P15 Gen 2 / P17 Gen 2 unveiled at the same time. The main difference being two DDR4-3200MHz memory slots rather than four and the slightly lower-clocked Xeon processor on offer.
At the same time, the P1 Gen 4 is configurable with not only 4G LTE but also 5G WWAN. Together with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, it makes for the best mobile connectivity on the market right now.
With the switch to 16:10, the new P1 no longer offers an OLED display option, though its IPS panels boast higher resolution and color gamut than ever before.
Last but not least, FHD webcams finally make their way to this ThinkPad mobile workstation, in both conventional and Hybrid IR (for Windows Hello) guises.
The new P1 Gen 4 as well as the P15 Gen 2 and P17 Gen 2 are joining the P14s Gen 2 and P15s Gen 2 unveiled earlier in 2021.

notebookcheck[1]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
Both panels offer very good picture quality without PWM flickering. The response times are slow, but we didn't find them to be problematic. The panel covers the sRGB color space completely, but the screen should be calibrated for the best possible display quality. The battery run times are practically identical to the first review unit of the ThinkPad P1 G4.
Pros
  • Matte WQHD panel
  • High-contrast IPS display
  • Very good battery life
  • Fast Wi-Fi 6
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3
  • Only one USB Type-C port
  • Only two Thunderbolt 3 ports
