Product Overview

Samsung Q70A is a mid-range 4K QLED TV in Samsung's 2021 smart TV lineup. Compared to the Q80A, it loses full-array LED backlighting, more sophisticated speaker setup, and OTS sound tracking. On the plus side, the Q70A is markedly thinner, making for a good option for wall-mount in brightly-lit rooms.
Like other premium QLED TVs, the Q70A covers 100% DCI-P3 color space and refreshes at 120Hz natively. QLED panels offer some of the best brightness and contrast in the industry today, and the Q70A packs it in a sleek form factor with minimal bezels.
As manufacturers are pushing for gaming use of their TVs, Samsung has endowed the Q70A with ultra-low latency / input lag as well as support for variable frame rates.
Naturally, the Q70A comes with a range of smart TV functions, including all major voice assistants as well as Samsung's proprietary Bixby.
Other 2021 conventional 4K QLED models in Samsung's lineup include the Q60A, Q80A, and The Frame. They are joined by the new Neo QLED models.

External Reviews

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Samsung Q70A is a solid TV with a few standout aspects but fairly modest picture quality. The TV's colors are strong and balanced, even if it doesn't reach the full digital cinema color space. Contrast is its weakest point, with modest performance that can soften shadow details. If you want to splurge and get even more gaming features, consider the LG C1.
Pros
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • High-contrast panel
  • AMD FreeSync Premium
Cons
  • Mediocre contrast
  • No Dolby Vision

rtings[2]

Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Samsung Q70 is good for mixed usage. Thanks to its high contrast ratio, it's good for watching movies or gaming in the dark, but it's also suited to well-lit rooms. Its fast response time delivers smooth motion in content like sports and video games. Its low input lag makes it feel response when gaming or connected to a PC.
Pros
  • High contrast ratio
  • Fast response time
  • Low input lag
  • Wide color gamut
Cons
  • Narrow viewing angles
  • Only one HDMI 2.1 port
  • No local dimming
