Product Overview

Razer Viper 8KHz is the world's first gaming mouse to feature 8000Hz polling rate. Based on Razer's popular Viper-series of gaming mice, it also sports the company's 2nd-gen Optical Switches as well as Focus+ 20,000DPI Optical Sensor.
The Viper 8KHz uses Razer's new proprietary HyperPolling Technology that brings the sampling rate of the mouse well above the industry standard 1000Hz. This drastically reduces the input delay to just 1/8th of a millisecond, virtually eliminating all stutters and making the cursor exceptionally smooth even in high speed movements.
Further, the 2nd-gen Razer Optical Mouse Switches works in tandem with the 8K polling for ultra fast actuation, while the Razer Focus+ Optical Sensor offers industry-leading 99.6% resolution accuracy at 20k DPI.

Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The Razer Viper 8K is an excellent mouse for casual gamers and esports competitors alike. It has a fast, accurate sensor, an ergonomic ambidextrous design, and can be easily customized in the Synapse software. The braided cable didn't cause any tugging and the smooth feet underneath glided across my Logitech mousepad.
Pros
  • Elegant ambidextrous design
  • 8K polling rate
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Notched scroll wheel

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Razer Viper 8K turns up the polling rate to 8000Hz, theoretically capping the mouse's input lag at 0.125 microseconds. A higher frame rate refreshes the cursor's position more often and takes better advantage of the extra data points. The mouse is compatible with any USB 2.0 PC like any wired mouse.
Pros
  • Powerful polling rate
  • Lightweight design
  • Supports USB 2.0 PCs
Cons
  • Limited customization options

rtings[3]

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Razer Viper 8KHz feels very well-built and is suitable for most hand sizes using a fingertip grip. Despite not having a honeycomb design, it's surprisingly light. It has a wide and adjustable CPI range, an incredibly low click latency, and a low lift-off distance. It isn't wireless and some people might find the cable cumbersome.
Pros
  • Feels very well-built
  • Many programmable buttons
  • Wide and adjustable CPI range
  • Low click latency and lift-off distance
  • Flexible cable is fairly flexible
Cons
  • Doesn't have nearly as many side buttons as dedicated MMO mice
  • No customization software available on macOS

t3[4]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The Razer Viper 8K is a super speedy gaming mouse. It uses 2nd-gen Razer optical switches instead of the usual mechanical switches. The shallow design is comfortable and ergonomic, so you'll easily be able to use it for long gaming sessions. It glides across the mouse mat really smoothly as well, thanks to the 100% PTFE Mouse Feet.
Pros
  • 8,000Hz HyperPolling
  • Comfortable and ergonomic design
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not ideal for small hands

techradar[5]

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Razer Viper 8K keeps the same basic design as the previous Razer Viper, but is slightly thinner and a touch heavier. At just 4.99 x 2.27 x 1.49 inches (L x W x H) - or 126.73 x 57.6 x 37.81 millimeters - it is a good deal smaller than a lot of other premium mice out there. The two primary mouse buttons feel so comfortable that it's like they were carved out of the Viper 8k's body from years of use rather than molded from plastic.
Pros
  • Very light
  • Excellent ergonomics
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • No tilt button support
  • Not the fastest gaming mouse

tomshardware[6]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
The Razer Viper 8K Hz is a successful implementation of an 8,000 Hz polling rate. You'll need a high-end rig and one of the fastest gaming monitors to get the most out of the mouse. Although it's ambidextrous, half of the side buttons are hard to use.
Pros
  • 8,000 Hz polling rate
  • High-end specs
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Half of side buttons are hard to use

trustedreviews[7]

Reviewer score 92% (normalized by Neofiliac)

The Razer Viper 8K is one of the most powerful mice on the market. Its 20,000 DPI sensor and 8000Hz polling rate guarantee you’re always ahead of the competition. Thanks to its PTFE pads on the bottom, the mouse won’t feel clunky through big swipes across the surface and will move with little effort.
Pros
  • Fantastic gaming performance
  • Zany 8000Hz polling rate
  • Competitively priced
Cons
  • No wireless connection
