Product Overview
MSI GE66 Raider is a premium 15.6-inch gaming laptop powered by up to 10th-gen Intel Core i9 processor, NVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER graphics, and 300Hz IPS display.
Compared to the more portable GS66 Stealth, the GE66 Raider is marginally thicker but adds more powerful configurable options. Both sport large 99.9Wh batteries.
To take full advantage of the powerful components, the GE66 Raider features MSI's proprietary Cooler Boost 5 with dedicated thermal solutions for both the CPU and the GPU. Thanks to Killer Gb LAN, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1, the Raider series are also exceptional in wired and wireless networking. It also sports a per-key RGB gaming keyboard by Steelseries.
MSI also markets a 17.3-inch version in the Raider-series, the GE75 Raider, which loses the 4K UHD option but adds a 4-speaker system. The GE66 Raider also uniquely features an RGB light bar that covers the entirety of the front edge.

notebookcheck[2]
Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)-core model from the Comet Lake generation offers 16 MB L3 cache, an open multiplier. The GE66 Raider is fast enough to run all the latest games in the native Full HD resolution (1920x1080) with maximum detail. The 1 TB drive from WDC built into the GE66 can hold its own very well against the Samsung and Intel competition in CrystalDiskMark.
Pros
- Full-fledged GeForce RTX 2070 Super
- High-quality case
- Good battery life
Cons
- High noise level under load
- High price
pcmag[3]
Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)The GE66 Raider is one of the best-performing 15-inch gaming laptops you can buy. It aced all of our gaming tests, from synthetic benchmarks like 3DMark to demanding AAA games like Far Cry 5. Despite the stellar performance, improved feature set, and good build quality, the GE66 still suffers from those extremely loud fans.
Pros
- Best-in-class performance for a 15-inch gaming laptop

The 15.6 inch FHD screen running at 300Hz is gorgeous and the battery improvements are significant. The eight-core Intel Core i9 pumps out 2.4Ghz and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super allows it to play visually impressive games at solid frame rates.

tomshardware[5]
Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)The MSI GE66 Raider is a powerhouse of a gaming laptop with looks to match. With its high-end but slim shell, powerful GPU, 10th Gen Intel Core i9 and a lot of power, you won't be left wanting or bogged down with bulk. But if you want a very bright or colorful screen, the Alienware m17 is a much better choice.
Pros
- Gorgeous 300 Hz screen
- Powerful performance
- Good battery life
Cons
- Mediocre webcam
- No Thunderbolt 3
trustedreviews[6]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)The MSI GE66 Raider is one of the best gaming laptops we’ve tested. It has a stunning 300Hz, 1080p display that is perfect for gaming. It also comes with the new Intel 10th Gen H-Series chip to help it on its way. Unfortunately, the fans get super-loud, which is a concern given that the unit here has a lower-spec GPU to the one eventual UK models will include. You won’t want to use this machine for listening to music or watching videos.
Pros
- Super-competitive gaming performance
- Incredible build quality
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- Poor speakers
- Poor speakers
