Amphion Argon3S is the largest of three bookshelf loudspeakers in Amphion's mid-level Argon series designed for both stereo and home theatre applications. Unlike most bookshelf speakers, the Argon3S uses a 2-way, passive radiator design with a rear-firing aluminum radiator.
The Argon series loudspeakers employ design and technologies from the company's professional studio monitor line: While the smaller bookshelf and the center channel speakers use traditional vented design, the larger models feature rear-firing passive radiators that avoid common issues associated with bass reflex designs and make placement easier.
Like other Amphion loudspeakers, a 1600Hz crossover is chosen to allow the tweeter and the woofer(s) work as a single point source. The specifically designed waveguide reduces the "sweet spot" effect.
The Argon series also include two smaller bookshelf speakers, Argon0 and Argon1, two floorstanders, Argon3LS and Argon7LS, and one center channel, Argon5C.
