Product Overview
Tamron 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD is a full-frame telephoto zoom lens for the E-mount mirrorless system. It shares a similar dimensions with the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III, trading 2/3 to 4/3 stops of maximum aperture for an extra 120mm of focal range.
Tamron promises aberration-suppression and flare-resistance that makes this lens a compelling option for enthusiasts. Its compact size means that it balances well even on Sony's APS-C cameras, with which it delivers a maximum reach of 450mm full-frame equivalent.
Like all Tamron E-mount lenses, a common 67mm filter thread is chosen.

Pros
- Low price
- Low distortion at 70mm
- Good image quality
- Long-term warranty
Cons
- No lens case included in box

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Tamron 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 Di III RXD is a good performer in the central area of the frame. Results are very soft as you look away from the middle of your image. If you use an APS-C model without IBIS, you'll want a lens with an optical stabilization system.
Pros
- Excellent center sharpness
- Excellent in-camera corrections
- Dust and splash protection
Cons
- Lacks optical stabilization
- No telephoto zoom

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Tamron 70-300 F4.5-56.3 Di III RXD is a very good telephoto lens for a A7c or A7III. On a 24Mpix camera it will be excellent at al focal lengths, all that for a light weight (545g) and a small price (700 euros) Performances are better than the Sony FE70-300mm f/4. 5-5.6 G OSS in term of background blur, AF and sharpness for half the price and 33% less weight.
Pros
- Very good results in term of background blur smoothness and color rendition in video, very nice rendering for portraits
- Very low distorsion and flare resistance (good but not excellent) between the Tamron and the Sony
Cons
- Small aperture (F4.5-6.3) combined with the big focal length means you will need to keep a high shutter speed and will climb quickly in the ISO and AF in low light will be more difficult than with a F2.8 zoom
- Less good ergonomics (no button on the lens)
