Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III OSD Lens provides great image quality for a bargain-grade price. This little ultra-light lens delivers excellent image sharpness, especially for the price. Very strong barrel distortion is at the top of my list. Some color separation and vignetting that does not resolve even at apertures are additional image quality limitations.
Pros
  • Very light
  • Excellent image sharpness
  • Compact design
  • Good build quality
Cons
  • Very strong barrel distortion
  • No manual focus adjustment

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 delivers outstanding resolution and strong build quality. The autofocus system, which visibly moves the optics forward and back to acquire focus, makes noise and takes some time to move across its range. There is some visible barrel distortion, about 4.5 percent, but you're unlikely to notice it in real-world shots.
Pros
  • Excellent build quality
  • Excellent sharpness
  • Dust and splash protection
Cons
  • No autofocus
  • No telephoto zoom

phillipreeve[3]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from phillipreeve have found:
The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 is a very sharp lens with good flare resistance and the unique feature of 1:2 magnification. While it isn't as compact as some competing primes it is still a lot smaller than any zoom covering 24mm and build quality leaves little to complain about. With distortion correction corners suffer quite a bit. The Tamron 2.8/24 is pretty slow to focus and also one of the hardest AF lenses to focus manually.
Pros
  • Very sharp
  • 1:2 magnification
  • Good flare resistance
Cons
  • Very strong distortion
  • AF drive needs to be corrected for many images

sonyalpha[4]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from sonyalpha have found:
The Tamron 24mm F2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 (275 euros) is an outstanding lens for its price. It delivers very similar results to the (1600 euros) for a fraction of the price. Sharpness is mostly outstanding on the Sony A7RIV and the results in term of color rendition / background blur are excellent. AF is efficient in video but very noisy, if you record in silent environment.
Pros
  • Excellent wide open on the whole frame and Outstanding as soon as you close by one stop
  • Excellent sharpness
  • Very close focusing distance and almost same weight (5g difference)
Cons
  • Very noisy in AFC mode
  • Only 24Mpix and have already the Tamron 17-28mm F2.8 ou won’t see a lot of difference in sharpness
