digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)The M1 Mac Mini is one of the best-value desktop PCs money can buy right now. Its performance is mind-blowing for a computer this small and this affordable. While it is not much of a gaming rig, it is just about perfect for everything else.
Pros
- Sleek design
- Excellent performance
- Excellent battery life
- Very affordable
Cons
- App compatibility could be better
- No Thunderbolt 3
macworld[2]
Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)The M1 Mac mini was 10 percent faster than the old Mac mini. The M1 has only two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, while the Intel model has four Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports. The Mac mini may be small in stature, but it's a giant when it comes to performance.
Pros
- Sleek, lightweight design
- Great performance
- Good battery life
Cons
- Nothing in particular
ndtv[3]
Reviewer score 61% (normalized by Neofiliac)You can't just install Windows 10 on M1-based Macs – at least not yet. Microsoft does develop Windows for ARM-based devices such as its own Surface Pro X. If the two companies decide to keep working together as they have so far, we could see official support somewhere down the line. This is likely the beginning of the end for the ‘hackintosh’ movement – enthusiasts running macOS on commodity x86 PC hardware.
Pros
- Sleek, unobtrusive design
- M1 SoC is easy to use
- Good battery life
Cons
- Windows 10 on ARM isn’t ready yet
notebookcheck[4]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Apple M1 is an SoC with eight cores that are divided into four fast Firestorm cores with clock rates of up to 3.2 GHz and four power-saving Icestorm cores with speeds of 2.1 GHz. Apple also uses its in-house developed SoC in the Mac Mini, which also integrates the GPU and RAM in one chip alongside the CPU. The switch to the underlying ARM architecture ensures compatibility with iOS apps.
Pros
- Very good system performance
- High-contrast display
- Very good battery life
- Fast Wi-Fi
Cons
- No Thunderbolt 3
pcmag[5]
Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac), which also employs Iris Xe. It outruns the MacBook Air and the Mac mini here. The GTX 1650 Ti showed muscle with these older games and synthetic tests. Ultimately, people will want to play what exists, and for older titles, it will probably have to be through emulation, not back-ported native versions.
Pros
- Sleek, compact design
- Solid performance
- Good value for money
Cons
- No Thunderbolt 3 ports
techradar[6]

The M1 has an 8-core CPU consisting of four high-performance cores. rendering in Final Cut Pro is also promised to be up to six times faster. The Mac mini (M1, 2020)'s unified 8GB or 16GB of memory is shared between the CPU and GPU.
Pros
- Powerful M1 chip
- Excellent performance
- Very versatile
Cons
- No eGPU
- No Thunderbolt 3
wired[7]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The M1 chip plays decidedly to the strengths that the Mac Mini had already laid as a foundation. The base Mac Mini gives you 8 GB of RAM and a 256-GB solid-state drive for $699. The other base model is the same, except it ups the SSD to 512 GB, for $899.
Pros
- Fantastic performance
- Solid build quality
- Solid battery life
Cons
- No Thunderbolt 3
