Product Overview

Samsung Q800T QLED 8K TV is an affordable option in Samsung's 2020 smart TV lineup. Compared to Q900TS and Q950TS, the Q800T does with lower-rated HDR support (Quantum HDR 16x instead of 32x) and only supports WiFi 5.
Design-wise, the Q800T is more traditional, with a "Bending Plate" type stand instead of the futuristic floating stand offered in the more premium models.

    Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
At $750, the Q800T isn't cheap, especially when you consider the lack of surround speakers. The subwoofer nearly stole the show, producing some of the best low end I've heard from a soundbar woofer this year. Music playback was also solid, thanks in part to the soundbar's support for a wide variety of formats.
    Pros
    • Excellent sound
    • Dolby Atmos support
    • Easy setup
    Cons
    • No rear speakers
    • No Dolby Vision

    Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Samsung Q800T gets bright and it has impressive reflection handling if you watch TV during the day. It's a good choice for movies due to its full-array local dimming and it doesn't have any issues upscaling 480p, 720p, or 1080p content. Unfortunately, it has some uniformity issues with visible dirty screen effect, which might bother you during sports.
    Pros
    • Bright enough to combat glare
    • Great wide color gamut
    • Outstanding reflection handling
    • Fast response time
    Cons
    • Disappointing uniformity issues
    • Some artifacts with 4k content

    Reviewers from t3 have found:
The Q800T's Object Tracking Sound system works brilliantly. It positions specific sounds at the correct place on the screen to match the action in the pictures. Its Game preset impresses with only 10ms of lag – pretty much as low as it gets for TVs. Support for the AMD FreeSync VRR system seems to work well at suppressing screen tearing issues with Xbox games.
    Pros
    • Superb picture quality
    • Impressive motion handling
    • Excellent sound system
    Cons
    • No Dolby Atmos decoding
    • No HDMI 2.1

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Samsung Q800T is the first 8K TV you can buy for something at least approaching a 4K price. The screen's brightness and contrast work well with game graphics too. The amount of picture processing and control Samsung has to turn off to hit the Game mode's low input lag figure does reduce picture quality. Object Tracking Sound uses speakers built around the TV frame and clever processing to make sounds appear to emanate from the correct part of the screen.
    Pros
    • Impressive 8K/HDR picture quality
    • Impressive local dimming
    Cons
    • No Dolby Vision support
    • No HDR10+ support

    Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Samsung HW-Q800T uses Samsung’s Acoustic Beam 2.0 to create the overhead channels. The wide-range tweeters in the front-firing speakers also add width to the the overall presentation, creating an expansive soundstage. The well-integrated subwoofer also lays down a solid foundation of bass that supports the system with improved weight and dynamism.
    Pros
    • Impressive all-round performance
    • Dolby Atmos and HDR10+ support
    • Built-in Alexa and Google Assistant
    Cons
    • No Chromecast or Apple AirPlay support
