Product Overview

Odyssey G5 C27G55T is the entry-level alternative to higher-end 1000R gaming monitors from Samsung. There is also a 32-inch variant with much of the same feature set and design elements.
The Odyssey G5 C27G55T features a 1000R-curved display that delivers 144Hz refresh rate for an immersive viewing experience.
With a WQHD resolution, the Odyssey G5 packs 1.7 times the pixel of a FHD display, allowing more details to be viewed. AMD FreeSync Premium features adaptive sync technology which reduces screen tearing, stutter, and input latency.
For QLED full-array LED backlighting and higher refresh rate, Samsung also markets the Odyssey G7 (C27G75T and C32G75T). The top-of-the-line Odyssey G9 doubles the resolution of the G7 and offers an immersive 32:9 DQHD experience.

rtings[1]

Reviewer score 68%
Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The Samsung Odyssey G5 has exceptionally low input lag, but it's significantly higher when playing at 60Hz. There's a single joystick located just below the Samsung branding at the center of the bottom bezel. The ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD has a faster response time, much wider viewing angles, and gets a lot brighter. The Dell S2721DGF has better gaming performance due to its higher refresh rate.

Pros
  • Great resolution
  • Wide viewing angles
  • Good contrast ratio
Cons
  • Mediocre color gamut
  • No HDR support

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 32%
Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The Samsung Odyssey G5 is a good gaming monitor with a large, high-resolution screen. It has a good response time at the max refresh rate, but there's some noticeable blur behind fast-moving objects and black smearing behind dark objects. It can deliver a pretty good gaming experience due to its fast response time, low input lag, and 144Hz refresh. Sadly, it has terrible ergonomics and sub-par viewing angles, so it isn't the best option for co-op gaming.

  • Good reflection handling
  • High refresh rate and variable refresh rate support
