digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 8th-generation iPad isn't exciting, but it is an exceptional tablet for $329. For that money you get just 32GB of storage, which isn't enough — you have to spend $429 to get 128GB. Once you get the higher storage option and Apple's keyboard, you're well into the territory of buying a laptop.
Pros
- Incredible battery life
- Excellent display
- Excellent performance
Cons
- Only 32GB of storage
pcmag[2]
Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 8th-generation iPad is a welcome alternative to a Chromebook for students. At its student price and adding a Logitech K480 keyboard, you have a $350 quasi-laptop. Unlike with a "real" laptop or a Chromebook, you can't have multiple user accounts on the iPad.
Pros
- Slim, light design
- Excellent performance
- Good battery life
Cons
- No stylus support
t3[3]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)The iPad has stereo speakers, but only kind of. They're both at one end, meaning if you hold it in portrait you get roughly stereo sound, but in landscape (for video, where it would be most useful) the audio all comes from one end. There are front and rear camera, and both are… middling. Video recording on the rear camera is 1080p HD, rather than 4K. Apple has always aimed for around 10 hours of typical use (video watching, or light browsing) on iPad, and this holds up for that.
Pros
- Sleek design
- Lots of apps
- Good battery life
Cons
- No headphone jack
- Middling camera
