Product Overview
LG UltraGear 27GN950 is the world's first 4K IPS gaming monitor with 1ms response time. It combines speed with rich color gamut and high dynamic range to produce an immersive visual experience.
Continuing the legacy of the 27GL850 from 2019, which was the world's first IPS monitor with 1ms response time, the UltraGear 27GN950 extends this feat to 4K UHD. The same 144Hz refresh rate and 98% DCI-P3 color gamut are on offer. The 27GN950 further supports VESA DisplayHDR 600.
Naturally, the 27GN950 is compatible with both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.
Compared to previous models, which had a 3-side borderless design, this 2020 model comes with 4-side borderless design.
Two other flagship-level gaming monitors debuted with the 27GN950 are the 34-inch 34GN850 and the 38-inch 38GN950, both featuring a curved design in ultra-wide form factor.

digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 75%The Nano IPS panel is extremely responsive, and easily overclockable to 160 Hz with just the press of a button. Stuttering and tearing is handled by FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility. The 27GN950 also comes with HDR600 support, which means it can produce up to 600 nits peak brightness when using just one of the HDR zones. The main drawbacks are its contrast performance, an unimpressive stand, and the distinct lack of HDMI 2.1.

Pros
- High refresh rate
- Wide color gamut
- Compact design
Cons
- Unimpressive stand
- No HDMI 2.1

Reviewer score 48%The LG 27GN950-B has an incredible response time, FreeSync support, G-SYNC compatibility, and low input lag. Its 4k resolution makes it a great choice for office use or content creators, but it has disappointing ergonomics. It has decent HDR performance, but its low contrast and terrible local dimming make it less ideal for dark-room viewing.

Reviewer score 84%The 27GN950-B doesn't require calibration, but there are small gains available with a few tweaks. The best gamma preset is Mode 4, and that requires a single click of the red slider to bring grayscale tracking to an error-free state. With Local Dimming on, contrast doubled, and it shows.

Pros
- Excellent contrast
- Excellent HDR performance
- Bright backlight
Cons
- No DisplayPort 1
- No HDR Effect mode
