Product Overview

BMW Z4 G29 is a compact convertible sports car in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.

BMW has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Utility-minded owners will have to keep in mind that the 281L (10cu-ft) cargo space may not be sufficient.

G29 Z4 marks a return of the Z4 moniker, this time with a soft-top that increases the boot space by 50%. Co-developed with Toyota, the Z4 leverages the latest weight-saving technologies.

The entry-level Z4 makes a convincing case for itself, because it's more pleasing to drive at any speed than the TT. It's nicely responsive to a lift off the throttle mid-corner to tighten the line, but in light of such good tyres, power oversteer is asking a bit much of this engine. Reckon on 45mpg at a cruise and so an impressive touring range of around 500 miles.

The BMW Z4 is a rear-wheel-drive, two-seater convertible sports car. It has a traditional fabric folding roof, a range of powerful engines up front, and a reasonably sized boot at the rear. There's no coupe version, although if you desperately want a fixed roof there are plenty of alternatives. All Z4 variants are well equipped, as befits their prestigious image.
