Product Overview

BMW 8 Series G15 is a large coupe in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-6 and V8 engines that displaced 3.0 to 4.4 liters.
Compared to the original 8 Series, the G15 is but a rebadged 6 Series successor. It lacks elegance and the V12 found in the E31. The amount of plastics found in it also does not bode well for its long-term reliability and collectibility.
BMW has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the BMW 8 Series G15 comes with double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear.

Reviewers from autocar have found:
The M850i's performance margin is something only a few owners will ever use. The calmer 3.0-litre, 316bhp 840d can still lay down a 4.9sec 0-62mph time. At 4.8 metres long, the 840d takes up as much road as a big saloon.
Pros
  • Powerful diesel engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent standard equipment
Cons
  • No adaptive damping or active anti-roll

Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The BMW 8 Series is offered as a two-door Coupe, a four-door Gran Coupe version with an extended wheelbase and a Convertible. There are three available versions of each body style: the 840i sDrive with 335bhp, the 316bhp diesel 840d xDrive and the M850i xDrive, with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo engine offering well in excess of 500bhp. For those wanting to crank up the performance there are 616bhp M Competition models. All 8 Series get an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all bar the840i feature xDrive four-wheel drive.
Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Powerful engines
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of hybrid tech

carwow[3]

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carwow have found:
The BMW 8 Series is a sumptuous grand tourer with a luxurious interior, four seats and a surprising turn of speed. Go for a range-topping M850i model, and this BMW has the pace to take on the likes of the V8 Aston Martin DB11, the Bentley Continental GT and the Lexus LC. There's ample space in the front for very tall drivers to stretch out and you even get a pair of back seats as standard.
Pros
  • Terrific infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of practicality
  • Raucous V8
