Product Overview

The 8th generation Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car by General Motors. It is the first mid-engined Corvette since the model's introduction in 1953.
Powered by a 6.2L LT2 V8 engine, it is available either as a targa top or a hardtop convertible. The only transmission for the C8 Corvette is an 8-speed dual-clutch transaxle, making it the first Corvette not to have a manual transmission since 1955.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
GM's decision to stick with the pushrod V8 for the entry-level car is vindicated within a couple of minutes. The steering wheel is probably the squarest fitted to any car since the Austin Allegro and the long dashboard and shallow windscreen angle throw up lots of distracting reflections. Total luggage space is 356 litres, less than a Cayman but still entirely respectable for a car in this segment.

Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Punchy acceleration
  • Impressive ride quality
Cons
  • Pricier than the C7
  • Lack of practicality

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
You’re sitting at much closer quarters with the car’s front wheels than ever a Corvette has allowed before. The one thing that Corvettes have never done well, until now, is steer. The new one, by the starkest of contrasts, steers in precise, instinctively responsive fashion and with really intuitive weight and pace.

Pros
  • Gorgeous V8 engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Impressive handling
Cons
  • Nothing in particular

autoexpress[3]

Reviewer score 80%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The eighth-generation car is very much like every Corvette ever built, albeit one with its V8 bolted behind the occupants instead of in front. The engine churns with the same sort of power as its predecessor, despite the fact it redlines at a lowly 6,500 rpm. Chevrolet also had the wisdom to offer three different seat designs that will tailor to everyone from fast-food diners to wannabe race car drivers.

Pros
  • Gorgeous looks
  • Impressive performance
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No manual transmission
  • Lack of vision out back

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The first UK cars will be specified in to two trim levels; 2LT and 3LT. You can then add numerous options to improve the dynamics – such Chevrolet's excellent Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension for £1,920 – or to enhance the styling and interior spec. All UK Corvettes also get the ‘Z51 Performance Package', which includes beefier-than-normal Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential and a sports exhaust system.

Pros
  • Superb V8 performance
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • No manual gearbox
  • Not as fast as rivals

carmagazine[5]

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The new double wishbone suspension system, complete with adaptive dampers on our coupe test model, is hugely impressive. In Tour, it soaks up so many imperfections on the road surface you have to remind yourself you're driving a two-seater sports car, not an executive saloon. While some may bemoan the lack of a manual gearbox, the new eight-speed dual-clutch auto is impressive.

Pros
  • Gorgeous looks
  • Powerful V8
  • Lots of fun to drive
Cons
  • No manual gearbox
  • Pricier than rivals
