History
Sharp Corporation is a Japanese multinational electronics manufacturer. Today, Sharp continues to manufacture and market a broad range of consumer, commercial, and industrial electronics products. Consumers may be most familiar with Sharp-branded TVs, though it is also the supplier of display panels to many other brands.
Established over a century ago, Sharp introduced a long list of electronics products. It was the first Japanese company to produce TVs in the 1950s. In 1960s, Sharp introduced the world's first transistor calculator. In the 1970s, it made affordable microwave ovens and expanded its product lineup to the stereo market.
Since the turn of the century, Sharp became a major supplier of LCD panels. It is the first to market 8K TV and is one of the few manufacturers to market 8K desktop monitors.
