History
Yamaha Corporation is a Japanese multinational conglomerate with a wide range of products and services. It is the world's largest manufacturer of musical instruments, including pianos, drums, guitars, and violins, etc.
History
Founded in 1887 as a piano manufacturer, Yamaha was incorporated a decade later in 1897. Its logo today of a trio of interlocking tuning forks reflects this heritage.
After WWII, the company repurposed the remains of its war-time production machinery to manufacture motorcycles. In 1955, the motorcycle division was spun off as Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.
In 1983, Yamaha made the first commercially successful digital synthesizer, the Yamaha DX7. In 1988, it shipped the world's first CD recorder.
