Product Overview

Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M is the company's flagship DAC and headphone amplifier with MQA support. Powered by two ESS Sabre ES9028Q2M DACs, it is able to handle PCM at up to 32bit/768kHz and DSD at DSD512.
Thanks to the dual-mono setup, the DacMagic 200M separates the two channels, reducing crosstalk and distortion. It supports MQA, which delivers studio-quality sound in files small enough for streaming.
Despite its compact size, the DacMagic 200M sports a full set of digital inputs, including two coaxial and two TOSLINK ports besides USB and Bluetooth. It also offers balanced (XLR) outputs.

Reviewer score 83%
Reviewers from hifinews have found the following***:
The DacMagic 200M is an attractive combination of solid build, ease of use and performance. Power comes from a plugtop 12V DC supply, and analogue outputs come in the form of unbalanced RCAs and balanced XLRs. At its best used with a computer audio source fed straight into the USB-B port and connected via its balanced outputs.

The Cambridge Audio DACMagic 200M is a very straightforward device. It's portable enough to form part of a desktop system (it needs power from a socket, though, don't forget) Just as easily as it can slot into your main system. Wireless connectivity is via Bluetooth 4.2 with support for SBC, AAC and aptX codecs.

Reviewer score 85%
Reviewers from whathifi have found the following***:
The DacMagic 200M's performance continues the momentum of the company's recent hi-fi components, including the CX and Edge ranges. It's recognisably ‘Cambridge', characterised by a full, smooth tonality that's complemented by an open, expressive and authoritative manner. The similarly priced Chord Mojo sets a lofty benchmark at this price, despite lacking many of the Cambridge's features.

Pros
  • Clean, open presentation
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
